All foreign researchers or teacher-researchers coming to the Nord-Pas de Calais region can benefit from the following services :

  • services offered by the FnAK throughout France by applying for the Researcher Guest Card
  • services offered by the Mobility Centre of the Nord-Pas de Calais region described below.

Missions
The Mobility Centre of the Nord-Pas de Calais region is managed by the European Pole that brings together the regional universities, the Pôle Universitaire Européen Lille Nord-Pas de Calais ( http://www.poleuniv-lille-npdc.fr/). Its main mission is to share its experience and expertise regarding the mobility of researchers.

Services available to foreign researchers
The Nord-Pas de Calais region has a long-standing tradition of research. The first head of the Lille Faculty of Sciences in 1856 was Louis Pasteur. Today, the diversity of research, the quality and quantity of equipment, the high number of publications and honours enjoyed by its 3500 teacher-researchers and researchers in its 200 laboratories are witness to the durability of this tradition which is constantly evolving. The traditional areas of strength have been Engineering, Life Sciences, Social Studies and Anthropology. Alongside these are multidisciplinary centres that benefit from personnel and equipment that are of national and international level. Among these are Land Transportation, Production and Communication Engineering, Biology, Medical Sciences, Agricultural and Food Sciences, Computer Sciences, Microelectronics.

The main missions of the Mobility Centre of the Nord-Pas de Calais region are the following :

  • Welcome of foreign researchers in partnership with the institutions participating in the regional network ;
  • Organisation of a network of local counsellors within each institution (information, exchange of procedures,…) ;
  • Liaison with the prefectures ;
  • Creation of a regional welcome guide (to be first published on the internet) ;
  • Organisation of meetings bringing together foreign teacher-researchers ;
  • Cultural and economic discovery of the region ; - Creation of a directory of foreign researchers ;
  • Housing. The pole manages 16 one-bedroom flats located within the international hall of residence « Georges Lefèvre », which is near one of the main entrances of the town of Lille, near the new Congress Hall. It is close to the métro station "Lille Grand Palais" which will bring you to the centre of town in a few minutes and is just a ten-minute walk from the two train stations « Lille-Flandres » and « Lille Europe ». There is plenty of parking available around the hall. The flats are on average about 27 m2 and are fully equipped and furnished. The Pole is planning to create an international hall of residence for researchers in Lille in partnership with the Rectorat, the Crous and the main partner institutions. Signing of the Quality Charter and presence on the European Portal for Researcher Mobility ( http://europa.eu.int/eracareers/).
