PARIS-CENTRE
Missions The mission of the Bureau for Foreign Researchers (BACE, Bureau d’accueil des chercheurs étrangers) is to welcome and assist foreign researchers hosted in academic and research institutions in the Ile-de-France region and to help them with problems linked to their move. BACE's mission is evolving. It is becoming a source of information and expertise on researcher mobility that will be at the service of international cooperation in the Ile-de-France. Services for foreign researchers BACE assists foreign guest researchers with all problems linked to their move and stay in the Ile-de France region. BACE also offers foreign researchers and their families various cultural activities to help them integrate into the local environment within their host region and to give them the chance to meet other foreign researchers. BACE offers personalised assistance and information regarding the administrative formalities before and during the stay in France: Protocole d'Accueil, scientific visas, list of documents to bring, schooling of children, opening of a bank account, resident permit, health insurance and other insurances, important aspects of daily life (telephone and internet subscriptions, transportation, health, ...). Contact : veronique.marc@fnak.org
BACE can help in finding an appropriate accommodation in the Ile-de-France region regardless of the duration of the stay (several days or several years) and of the family situation (alone, couples or family with children). If available, foreign researchers will be offered specially renovated flats on the grounds of the Cité Internationale Universitaire de Paris. Otherwise, BACE will direct them to a partner association that can offer furnished flats in town. To fill out a request for an accommodation, the following form can be filled on-line : www.ciup.fr/enseignants_chercheurs/index.php Contact : carine.morotti-garcia@ciup.fr
BACE can help researchers find employment, for instance if they wish to extend their stay. This service is also available to their spouses who often have put aside their own career to follow their husband or wife. BACE can assist in writing CVs and motivational letters. We make available information about the employment market. When necessary, researchers are directed to specific organisations dedicated to employment. Contact : pomme.brahim@ciup.fr BACE is developing a cultural programme specifically aimed at our guest researchers : French classes, evening events to meet other researchers, monthly visits to discover the cultural heritage of the Ile-de-France region, participation to a discussion group exchanging ideas about science and its implications. The programme is posted on-line : www.ciup.fr/chercheurs/pendantsejour.htm.
To benefit from the services of BACE even if no accommodation is requested, the researcher can subscribe to the Guest researcher card of the Alfred Kastler Foundation issued by our partner or contact directly veronique.marc@fnak.org at BACE.
