FAQ

I am planning to come to France to do research in a public institution : what documents do I need ?

Since 1998, France has simplified its procedures for  the entry of foreign researchers on its territory. The researcher must request a document called  " Protocole d’Accueil " (Entry Protocol) from his host institution. Once he/she has received the completed document, he must request a visa for a long stay from the French Consulate of his/her usual residence (99 euros). This visa will bear the inscription " Scientific ". Once in France, the foreign researcher must go to the prefecture within 2 months of his/her arrival to request a residency permit. Upon presentation of his/her " Protocole d’Accueil ", he/she will be given a residency permit bearing the inscription "Scientific".
