The " Complémentaire santé " is a supplementary health insurance that reimburses some of the costs that are not covered by the Social Security. In general, the Social Security reimburses up to 70% of your health expenses. The subscription to a supplementary insurance through a private insurance company will allow you to receive reimbursement for the remaining 30%. This insurance is usually called a " Mutuelle " (mutual insurance). It is not compulsory.
