FAQ

Should I pay taxes in France ?
Publié le 20/12/2004

It depends. France has signed tax agreements with several countries. Often, specific provisions are included in these agreements regarding researchers. Provisions are different according to nationality and/or the country where you last filed an income tax form and you should obtain information on what obligations apply to you regarding the payment of your income tax.
Whatever the situation, you will always have to declare the income received (salary, grants, other) by filing an income tax form in France. This declaration is filed every year in March.

You also have to pay a local community tax : this tax is payable by the person who holds the lease on January 1st.
