The Guest Researcher eCard allows the Kastler Foundation and the French EURAXESS services Centres to guide foreign scientists preparing a PhD or already having this grade (PhDs, post-docs, professors, etc.) through the usual red tape and help them create a comfortable environment for their families during their stay in France. Thousands of researchers have already benefited from the free assistance of our network. To benefit from this assistance, we recommend that you register as soon as possible, as we can help you prepare your stay before your arrival: prevention is better than cure! Please contact your EURAXESS services Centres for any questions relating to the preparation for your next stay (housing, administrative formalities, opening of a bank account, health insurance, French courses, cultural programme...).
In practice, it is your Center which confirms your registration and confirms this by e-mail, so please contact your Centre for any question related to your reception or to your registration.
- If you need information about visas and residency permits, consult the guide: this online guide has become the reference throughout France. It is consulted by Ministries and research institutions. We urge you to consult it while preparing your stay in France and also for information on all other administrative formalities of daily life during your stay (housing, health insurance, customs and many other topics).
- If you non salaried while in France, you can subscribe to a health insurance specifically negotiated for researchers and their families: this health insurance is probably unique in Europe and offers excellent coverage. Other types of insurance are also offered such as a comprehensive rental insurance civil/individual liability with assitance or school and after school activities cover.
- If you would you like to have banking services available as soon as you arrive, you can open a bank account before your departure: take advantage of a unique and practical offer that allows you to open a bank account and transfer money into it before your arrival in France.
- If you need temporary lodgings for a few days before you settle into a long term rental, you can enjoy a 10 to 25 % reduction for a temporary lodging.
- If you are planning to rent a car, there is a cheap solution. Rent a car at an unbeatable price, and enjoy the use of a tax-exempt new car that you pick up as soon as you arrive at the airport and return to the airport when you leave.
