Presentation
The Kastler Foundation was created in 1993 by the French Academy of Sciences. In 2002, it became part of the Cité internationale universitaire de Paris (CiuP), a state approved national foundation directed to the public benefit. It is mainly financed by the French government and local authorities of the Alsace region. Its headquarters are located in Strasbourg, however its work extends over all of France. The two missions of the Kastler Foundation are to facilitate the visits to France by foreign researchers and to maintain contact with them after their departure. The underlying ideas with which it operates are mobility and access to knowledge and cultural exchange, all carried out from a very humanist perspective with the ul-timate goal of international coopera-tion that was dear to Alfred Kastler.
