There are many banks in France, but they donít all cover the totality of France. One of the annoying aspects of French banking is that, for a number of operations, you will have to go in person to the window or automatic teller-machine of the branch office of the bank where you keep your account. Some banks are starting to offer banking services via the Internet, or the telephone. Bank hours vary, but in general, banks are open Monday to Friday, from 8 a.m. or 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. at the latest, with a lunch break usually from 12 to 1.30 p.m. Some banks are closed on Mondays and most are not open on Saturday afternoons.
